The Hakone Old Tokaido Cedar Avenue is a historic path that once formed part of the Tokaido highway during Japan’s Edo period. Stretching about 500 meters from Motohakone to Hakone Town, the trail is lined with around 400 towering cedar trees, many nearly 400 years old. Walking through this quiet forest path offers a peaceful experience and a glimpse into the journeys of travelers from centuries past—a perfect blend of nature and history in Hakone.
